1. From this pod-casting project, I expect to learn a good deal of things. I've never done anything like this, so I hope that this will teach me new skills to get my message across. Effective communication is essential in any setting, especially an academic one as we have here, in order for a proper transmission and reception of ideas. It also helps in being taken seriously and establishes a platform for expectations of the subject matter. Developing good communication skills such as enunciation, clarity, charisma, and politeness, are helpful to a conductive flow of ideas and information from speaker to listener and encourage the audience to respond in a similar manner. I hope to be able to learn to how harness these skills when speaking in front of the camera so that our final project will be professional and precise.
2. Communication is a great deal of things to me. Communication as a word can be broken down to reveal a lot about its nature. The main part of the word can trace its origins back to the word "common" in Latin. The "co" in "common" means "with" or "together". The "mon" in "common" and the "mun" in "communication" means "change" or "exchange". Therefore, common is used to described something that is changeable, or shared, by all – shared by all, or exchanged altogether. Communication, therefore, is the action of relaying something to another being, or another group. It literally makes one thing, previously known to one individual, "common", that is to say, now known to all. It is a democratizing action. It allows us to spread information, ideas, concepts, and other facets of daily life. It is essential to how humans interact. Dogs and horses can communicate, but spoken language is central to human communication. To me, communication is a concept that we often take for granted and to which we owe the honor of being the fabric of our society.
